At a special called board meeting held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the School District of Oconee County Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Emily Roberts as principal of Keowee Elementary School.
Mr. Smith, superintendent, commented, “Ms. Roberts has proven herself to be a talented and compassionate leader during her time as assistant principal. Her commitment to building relationships, supporting student achievement, and serving the Walhalla community has made a lasting impact. I am confident her dedication to our students, staff, families, and community will continue as she leads Keowee Elementary for many years to come.”
Emily Roberts has proudly served the School District of Oconee County since 2012 and has been an Assistant Principal at Walhalla Elementary School for the past seven years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Clemson University and her Master's degree in Educational Administration from Southern Wesleyan University. Prior to entering public education, Emily helped launch the Foothills YMCA Afterschool Program, an experience that sparked her passion for serving children and families. Deeply committed to the Walhalla community, she currently serves as Vice Chair of the Walhalla Performing Arts Center, Secretary of the Walhalla PRT Foundation, and Secretary of the Walhalla Oktoberfest Committee. Emily lives in Walhalla with her family and enjoys spending time with her daughter and enjoying the beautiful outdoor experience that Oconee County offers.
